Drogheda United’s FAI Cup final hero Gavin Whelan might not be playing too much soccer anymore but that hasn’t stopped his involvement in the game. He has been working with Air Structures International Ltd for the past 18 months developing their Igoal and Ilite range of products. “The business is coming on in leaps and bounds and we have recently signed a large contract in the US along with receiving an official invite to be the goal provider for FIFA’s annual grass roots festival in Zurich last month”, Gavin stated. They have developed special safety inflatable goals which are even used by international sides for training as well as training lights. “I haven’t had might time for playing but I still try and I was playing with Phoenix FC LSL last year. I am living locally Lusk and still have lots of friends in the Drogheda area and of course keep an eye on the results” Gavin added.
